Setting up a JustGiving page

There are two options:-

1. A Charity Fundraising Page – This allows you to use graphics and information about the charity you are supporting. All donations go direct to Ukrainian Action (one of the charities registered with JG). However, it is essential to notify Team Devon of your fundraising page, so we can liaise with UA London and ensure donations generated are ring fenced for Team Devon.

A Charity Fundraising Page gives the donor the option to add Gift Aid, which boosts the donation by 25%!

2. A Crowdfunding Page – You cannot use any text of graphics (logos for instance) that link you to any charity. If you do, the page will be rejected by the JG verification process. Also, the money raised can only go into a personal bank account you control. Therefore, there is no opportunity for the donor to add Gift Aid. The Fundraiser who has set up the page, cannot add personal Gift Aid to the funds raised, as the money was given by others (HMRC ruling).

Please Note – JustGiving try to take a large slice of all donations by automatically adding a tip of 10%. However, this can be reduced down to £0 if you take care and use the ‘slider bar’ at the final payment stage, to select the level of Tip the donor wishes to make (if any).

You can copy and paste this note onto your supporting email message, if you would like to make your potential donors aware of this manual overriding control.

Tips for Success

  • Tell Your Story: Explain why you are crowdfunding and how the money will be used.

  • Use Visuals: Pages with photos and videos raise more money.

  • Update Supporters: Post regular updates to keep donors engaged.

  • Use QR Codes: Create a QR code to make in-person, offline donations easier.
